State Non-Federal Accounts

Glossary Definition:

State Non-Federal Account: An individual may contribute to the non-federal account(s) maintained by a state or local party committee in accordance with state law limits, and a corporation or union may contribute its treasury funds to such accounts to whatever extent state law permits. With the enactment of BCRA however, contributions to non-federal accounts are not as readily available for use on federal elections as was previously the case. For instance, a state or local party committee may not use any non-federal donations to pay for costs associated with promoting, supporting or opposing a clearly identified federal candidate.
